The Grand Prix of Montreal Arts Council at FTA
Montreal, 20th March, 2013 – The Honourable Charles Lapointe, C.P. president of the Montreal Arts Council, and Montreal’s mayor, Michael Applebaum, revealed yesterday the 28th Grand Prix of the Montreal Arts Council: the Festival TransAmériques (FTA).
For its exceptional and significant contribution to the international reputation of the creation of contemporary theatre, the FTA received honours from the jury that particularly complimented the commitment to development of Marie-Hélène Falcon, the head of this festival of creation, for thirty years.
Every year, the FTA presents innovative and eagerly-awaited programming whose influence is often crucial to the movement of our companies abroad. More than a melting pot of ideas, this festival is a special moment for onlookers and aficionados of theatre and of contemporary dance alike, as well as an essential point of reference for individuals interested in discovering new artistic currents and measuring their vitality on a global scale. In this manner, they participate in the spread of interculturalism for a culture of diversity henceforth at the heart of all art. Made up of foreign productions and of unforgettable Quebec creations, the FTA are actively involved in the international diffusion of Montreal contemporary creations.
Diversité artistique Montréal (DAM), appreciates the consistency of such a festival, a symbol of an eclectic, pluralistic vision enriched by intercultural exchange.
