BIOGRAPHIEVeena Gokhale, an immigrant shape shifter, started her career as a journalist in Bombay. This “tough, tantalizing” city inspired Bombay Wali and other stories (Guernica Editions, 2013). Bombay Wali means a woman from Bombay. Veena came to Canada on a journalism fellowship, returning to do a Masters. After immigrating here she worked for non-profits. Her novel Land for Fatimah (Guernica) was published in 2018. She has published in anthologies and literary magazines, read widely from her work and received writing grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec. She continues to do freelance journalism with a focus on the arts.
Currently, she is marketing her manuscript The Artichoke, Sensuous Stories and working on Annapurna’s Bounty, recasting food-related legends into contemporary fiction.
