The art of being different together

Coproduced by Diversité artistique Montréal (DAM) and LAND InSIGHTS during the First Peoples Festival

August 5th 2017 - Place des Festivals (free)

Nova Stella is a jubilant and artistic gathering where everyone who loves our city is invited to come celebrate the Montréal of today and envision the city of tomorrow.

This coming August 5, experience the fun of a one-of-a-kind day that shines the spotlight on the immense talent of artists of all backgrounds from near and far.

In the afternoon, you can enjoy an exciting music program and street entertainment at the Place des Festivals. The 65-troupe-strong Amitié Nuestroamericana parade will wind its way through downtown Montréal from Square Dorchester, ending in a grand finale at the Quartier des spectacles. In the evening, a major music show will move to the beat of a poetic manifesto, setting the mood for an electrifying evening in which powerful words blend with the contemporary sounds of the city.

With this poetic proclamation written by Queen Ka, Nova Stella calls on us to enter a new dialogue with the Other, to put an end to the us/them divide, and adopt, instead, an inclusive us that makes room for every Montrealer. It invites everyone to celebrate and embrace the art of being different together.

Nova Stella is presented in collaboration with L'Amitié Nuestroamericana and with the support of the Festival Accès Asie, the Festival du Monde Arabe and the Festival Orientalys.
