DAM's activities are based on three strategic orientations set out its action plan:
- To sensitize governments and the cultural milieu to the diversity of artists and artistic practices;
- To develop a service offering which highlights the work of artists from ethnocultural communities;
- To sensitize audiences to artistic diversity.

These orientations are expressed through the representation of DAM members vis-à-vis political, institutional and government authorities, the development of a program of specific training for members and by the organization of numerous meetings which promote exchange and discussion.
